The Parish of Saint Leo the Great presents to the parish community with our new parish logo.
This shield logo represents Saint Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, established in 1903. The design incorporates traditional ecclesiastical symbols:
Top left: The Holy Eucharist, as a reflection of the catholic faith and our beliefs that Jesus Christ is present fully in body, blood, soul, and divinity.
Top right: The two glass vessels, known as cruets, which hold the water and the wine used in mass. This reflects the secret prayer used in mass composed by our patron Saint Leo the Great; “Through the mystery of this water and wine, may we come to share the divinity of Christ, who humbled Himself to share in our humanity...”
Bottom left: The three-tiered papal ferula (pastoral staff or crozier) symbolizing the papal authority that we follow as Catholics, the authority once held by our patron saint. The swords behind the ferula represent the two swords held by saints Peter and Paul in the vatical mural depicting Saint Leo the Great facing Atila the Hun.
the swords are also an homage to Pope Leo XIII in his composition of the Saint Michael's prayer (who is mostly depicted holding a sword).
Bottom right: An open book with the Greek letters Alpha (Α) and Omega (Ω), symbolizing Christ as the beginning and the end and representing the word of God incarnate.
- A papal tiara (triregnum) sits above the shield
- The Latin motto "Sic Locutus Est Petrus Per Leonem" translates to "Thus Peter has spoken through Leo," A phrase said at the Council of Chalcedon upon reading a letter by Pope Leo the Great. Read more about it here: https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/he-who-hears-you-hears-me-12376
-The laurel wreath around the shield is a symbol of victory through the resurrection and faith in Christ.

La Parroquia de San León Magno presenta a la comunidad parroquial nuestro nuevo escudo parroquial.
Este escudo representa a la Iglesia Católica Romana de San León Magno, establecida en 1903. El diseño incorpora símbolos eclesiásticos tradicionales:
Arriba a la izquierda: La Sagrada Eucaristía, como reflejo de la fe católica y nuestra creencia de que Jesucristo está plenamente presente en cuerpo, sangre, alma y divinidad.
Arriba a la derecha: Los dos recipientes de vidrio, conocidos como vinagreras, que contienen el agua y el vino que se utilizan en la misa. Esto refleja la oración secreta que se usa en la misa compuesta por nuestro patrono San León Magno: “Por el misterio de esta agua y este vino podemos llegar a compartir la divinidad de Cristo, que se humilló a sí mismo para compartir nuestra humanidad'".
Abajo a la izquierda: La férula papal de tres niveles (el báculo pastoral) que simboliza la autoridad papal que seguimos como católicos, la autoridad que tuvo nuestro santo patrón. Las espadas detrás de la férula representan las dos espadas que sostuvieron los santos Pedro y Pablo en el mural vaticano de San León Magno frente a Atila el Huno.
Las espadas son también un homenaje al Papa León XIII en su composición de la oración de San Miguel (quien aparece representado frequentemente sosteniendo una espada).
Abajo a la derecha: Un libro abierto con las letras griegas Alfa (Α) y Omega (Ω), que simbolizan a Cristo como principio y fin y representan la palabra de Dios encarnada.
- Una tiara papal (triregnum) se encuentra sobre el escudo.
- El lema en latín "Sic Locutus Est Petrus Per Leonem" se traduce como "Así habló Pedro por medio de León", frase dicha en el Concilio de Calcedonia al leer una carta del Papa León Magno.

-La corona de laurel alrededor del escudo es un símbolo de victoria a través de la resurrección y la fe en Cristo.
